Google launches Gemini 2.5 Pro IO edition, optimized for coding and software development

By SuriDevs  May 08, 2025

Google has just rolled out an early version of its Gemini 2.5 Pro update ahead of Google I/O. It gives developers a sneak peek before the official launch later this month. The update is packed with improvements that make coding, especially for interactive web apps, a lot easier and more powerful.

One of the biggest upgrades in Gemini 2.5 Pro is its ability to handle coding tasks better. The new update makes tasks like editing code, transforming it, and even building complex workflows much smoother. This is especially useful for developers who want to create well-designed, functional web apps.

Google also talked about how well Gemini 2.5 Pro understands videos in a blog post. It scored an impressive 84.8% on a test measuring video understanding, making it one of the top performers in the field. Plus, it’s been improved to reduce errors, which will make developers’ lives easier when using tools like Cursor, an AI coding tool.

What’s even better is that Google decided to release this update early because developers were so eager to try it out. Now, anyone can start building with the new version through the Gemini API on Google AI Studio and Vertex AI. It’s also available in the Gemini app, where users can create code and build interactive web apps with just one simple prompt.
